America Ferrera stars in this fundraising commercial for Peace First Prize non-profit. This is post-Ugly Betty and pre-Superstore America. It’s always an honor to work for a good cause. As the lead video editor, we helped bridge the narrative discussion between the agency creative directors and the director of the shoot to help tell the story of the Peace First Prize. There's a quick composite shot we rotoscoped as the "good" America meets "bad" America in this commercial, just a small amount of VFX.
As explained on their website, "The Peace First Challenge helps young people (ages 13-25) create and lead projects that address injustice in their community through compassion, courage, and collaborative leadership. Young people anywhere in the world can join the Challenge by clicking here. When you join the Challenge, you’ll be guided through a 5-stage journey and provided helpful tools and support, including training, mentorship, and funding, to launch a social change project in your community."
The Peace First Prize, launched in 2013, aimed to award "best-in-class" young leaders with $50,000 to scale their social impact initiatives. The campaign aligned with Peace First's mission to amplify the voices of young leaders and inspire broader societal engagement. The prize itself successfully spotlighted youth-driven change across various communities, contributing to its larger goal of fostering global change-making. Peace First continues to support and mentor young leaders in over 166 countries, highlighting the enduring relevance of its initiatives.
