Boost Engagement With These 3 Character Design Tips

Engagement and viewability are important metrics to measure when trying to launch a successful business video. They measure how much of the video that viewer watches and if they interact with a call to action.

Some people measure each separately, but to me, they are interconnected. No one is going to click on your call to action if they don't finish watching your video. So with that in mind, here's a few quick tips on how to make the characters in your video a little more personable. An audience liking your characters and being invested in the story will increase engagement and put more money in your pocket.

Wiggles & Robbins “Life Drawing Stop-Motion”

Wiggles & Robbins came up with a great idea to advertise life drawing courses at The Book Club in London. Using photographed stills of the students’ sketches, warm-ups, and works-in-progress, they crafted this stop motion video with outward-facing easels set up in a circle.

210% After Effects

Whoa, check this video out by Anders Hatte. Everything in this video was done in AE apparently even the music which was made using audio effects such as tone and modulation, key framed to create the drums and melody. No plugs-ins or 3rd party apps were used either. That's pretty dope, considering the beat isn't actually bad, and After Effects is not made for audio creation or sequencing.
